Barcelona and Real Madrid may both have huge debuts but that doesn’t seem to worry the rumor mill at all with rumors the duo are willing to spend big on RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konaté.
The two clubs actually wanted Dayot Upamecano, but he’s on his way to Bayern, so instead have turned their interest to his 21-year-old team-mate instead, according to AS.
Konate has a release clause of €45 million but the report reckons a bid of €25m or €30m could be enough.
Madrid want to replace Raphael Varane, while Barca’s defensive issues mean they continue to get linked with pretty much every defender available.
Barca close in on ‘Austrian Messi’
The rumor mill also loves coming up with the latest and newest Lionel Messi from all over the globe.
This time there’s a brand new Messi in Austria and his name is Yusuf Demir.
According to reports in Germany, Barca are close to landing Demir and have stepped up their interest ever since Joan Laporta was re-elected as president.
Barca are hoping they can beat Bayern, Dortmund and Manchester United & City to Demir and could snap up the 17-year-old midfielder for around €6-8m.
Xavi To Sign New Deal With Al Sadd – With Barcelona Clause
Xavi is set to sign a new deal with Al Sadd.
The Barcelona great will commit to the Qataris to June 2023.
However, AS says the contract will also include a ‘Barca clause’ which will allow Xavi to leave for his former club without a fee needed to break the agreement.
The former Spain midfielder is due to put pen to paper this week.
Xavi led Al Sadd to the Qatari title last season.
Tottenham Interested in Barcelona Defender Emerson Royal
Estadio Deportivo says Spurs are among a number of potential suitors interested in taking on the player, who currently plays his football at Real Betis.
The Catalan giants are keen to sell the 22-year-old and have put a £21million (€25m) price tag on the Brazilian.
Barca currently own 50 per cent of the player but have the option to purchase another 30 per cent from Betis if they so wish.
But Betis, who would like to keep him, cannot afford to sign him permanently due to lack of funds.
Emerson’s current deal with Betis runs until the end of the season, when Barcelona will have the option to sign him for £5.2m.
