LG Primary: Faleke Under Attack For Exposing Lagos APC Leadership

Influential Lagos politician and former Ojodu LG chairman, Hon. James Faleke is under verbal attack for exposing the imposition of candidates into political offices by the APC leadership in the state.

The House of Reps member, had at the wake of the recently held rancorous local government election primary in the state , issued a statement which a group in his Ojodu constituency, interpreted to mean a direct indictment of the APC national leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and other leaders of the APC in Lagos.

The group, The Progressive Grand Alliance (PGA) in a Press Statement berated Hon. James Faleke, over his apology for his conduct in the APC LCDA primary election where he was quoted to have said his actions was necessitated by his motivation to eliminate and curb the move by some party members from imposing their family members on the party at the expense of others, an act which he claimed had become a long-standing culture in the party across all levels.

Reacting to the statement, the Spokesperson of PGA, Comrade Lanre Adaramola berated Hon. James Faleke for what he described as his ignoble attempt to drag others in the mud with him adding that, ”the unwarranted statement of Hon. James Faleke was no doubt aimed at the National APC leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Other GAC leaders.”

According to the PGA leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s daughter is the Iyaloja General in Lagos State, Asiwaju’s wife is the Senator representing Lagos Central, Remi Tinubu’s sister is a 2nd term Commissioner after being a 3 term Assembly Member, Tajudeen Olusi the most senior GAC member has his son has the Lagos Island Central Chairman, while Lai Mohammed’s son is the representative of Ikeja Constituency 1 at the National House of Assembly”

Comrade Adaramola stated that the All Progressive Congress (APC) has its structure deeply rooted in fairness and meritocracy and would never prioritize any other unconstitutional means over the party’s cores and values.

He also added that the recent utterances made by Hon. James Faleke only signifies his bitterness as his chosen candidate who he had heavily sponsored during the election had not only lost out at the election but has also been found to have committed a criminal offense.

The group had alleged Faleke to be the major sponsor of Alhaja Layeni Kafayat one of the aspirant who lost in the just concluded APC LCDA election in Ojodu.

Alhaja Layeni Kafayat , the group claimed, had presented a fake WAEC result to the party’s electoral screening committee, an act described as outright violation of the party’s constitution and the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

According to the group’s leader ”Faleke himself is a product of the system as he never participated in any primary election yet has been Sole Administrator, Chairman twice and a three time House of Reps member.

“These benefits he enjoyed as a Cardinal Odunmbaku’s political godson, and as a result of this he has no moral authority to address the issue”

The group also warned him against making any further utterances which does not represent the interest and principles of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

2023: Tinubu’s Loses Support As Senate President Wants Youthful Leadership After Buhari

Senate President Ahmad Lawan may have joined the forces within and outside of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the ambition of the party’s leader, Bola Tinubu to succeed President Mohammadu Buhari, as he canvases for a post Buhari youthful leadership in the party.

According to the Senate President, the APC must begin to plan ahead to sustain the goodwill and legacies of the present administration by ensuring its leaders hand over power to competent youths.

ThePageNews recalls that while President Buhari is believed to have been inactive as a result of ill health occasioned by old age, the only known person in the APC, to be nursing the aspiration to succeed Buhari for now, is Tinubu who will be over 70 years by next presidential election.

In a statement by his Special Assistant (Press), Ezrel Tabiowo, on Monday night in a speech delivered to close the First Progressives Youth Conference 2021 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, Lawan said the party ”must begin to plan ahead to sustain the goodwill and legacies of the present administration by ensuring its leaders hand over power to competent youths in the All Progressives Congress.”

Lawan who posited that the APC may face challenges after the exit of President Muhammadu Buhari from office in 2023, noted that by handling the affairs of the party to the youths, the party would be able to retain its appeal and nationalistic outlook beyond the 2023 general elections.

He said: “Whether we like it or not, the truth is, President Muhammadu Buhari remains the person with the bulk of the support we get across this country in APC.

“[And] when he leaves, he would still have some roles but I dare say that it is after he leaves office that APC will face its challenge.

“Yes, we have to know our value then, and the value of APC presently is APC minus President Muhammadu Buhari. Whatever it is, that is the value of APC.

“So, we need to do a lot to build this party, and we need our youths more than ever before for them to continue with this legacy that this administration has established all over the country.

“That means we have to see ourselves as brothers and sisters regardless of where we come from.”

The Senate President added: “Our tribe or even ethnic group, our religious persuasion should not matter when it comes to uniting this country.

“[And] as APC, the onus is on us to provide security and an economy that will bring growth and development to give people the kind of life that is meaningful.

“We can ask others to join us but we are the ones to do it, so we need all hands on deck.” the statement read in part.

In view of the fact that, the Supreme Court has only sixty days from the date of the judgment of the Court of Appeal, to dispose of this matter, the party warned that any attempt to play games or to apply delay tactics will amount to nothing but sabotage and a calculated attempt to subvert the course of justice.
