The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency, Hon. Kayode Akinmade has urged party supporters to remain steadfast in their commitment to ensure victory for the party in the rescheduled general elections.
Hon. Akinmade who expressed shock at the sudden postponement of the elections earlier scheduled to start Saturday 16 February, said delay in the elections does not amount to denial of PDP’s victory at the poll.
The former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Ondo State said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has merely unfolded one of its strategies aimed at frustrating the electoral process, urging Nigerian electorates to be extra vigilant and be more resolute to their determination to defeat what he described as “evil agenda of enemies of democracy” in Nigeria.
Hon. Akinmade urged party supporters to use the next few days to intensify and reinvigorate their house-to-house campaign, saying the ruling party is already in panic mode and would do anything to subvert the will of the people if left unchecked.
He also urged the people to shun violence and be focused on the final victory which according to him would end the APC’s reign of terror.
He also called on the international community not to be deterred but to remain steadfast in their support for free and fair elections.
He said all hands must be on deck to encourage and support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deliver on its mandate to conduct credible elections despite its provocative decision to postpone the elections.
