The Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has expressed satisfaction at the conduct of the primary election organized by the State chapter of the party yesterday.
Sanwo-Olu, who spoke at his Eyekole ward E3, Adeniji Adele, Lagos said the voting excercise was peaceful and well-coordinated
Attesting to the flawlessness of the election, the APC gubernatorial candidate said the large turnout of voters was pointer to the fact that Lagos citizens and indeed APC members want democracy institutionalized in the State.
“’We’ve always clamoured for participatory democracy and I think that the direct primaries, ordered by our party was a good way to ensure that everyone took part in a process that will bring in democratically elected representatives of the people.’’
Speaking on the modalities adopted by the party, Sanwo-olu said the open ballot system remain the best method to test popularity of contestants in an election of this nature.
At the election centre on Tueday ,Sanwo-Olu voted in company with his wife, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, his ward chairman Mr. Saheed Olowoguneshin and other ward executives. Sanwo-Olu was later joined by Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Authority, Mr. Kamal Bashua.
