Lagos PDP must retire Bode George to make progress, urges support for BOG to win senatorial bye-election  – Fayose

Published

on

Immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has said that
former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party
(PDP), Chief Bode George, must be sent to political retirement if the
party must make progress in Lagos State.

His Media Aide,  Lere Olayinka, said in a statement on Wednesday, that
Fayose,  who spoke during the inauguration of the PDP Campaign
Committee for the Lagos East senatorial bye-election on Tuesday,
emphasized that Chief Bode George should rather be a support stand for
the younger ones in the party instead of dragging positions with them.

While urging support for the PDP candidate in the senatorial
bye-election,  Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi (BOG), Fayose said;  “Lagos
is ripe for PDP to take and we will take the State if will work hard
and put our house in order.

“This senate election is for PDP to take if we are ready to take it.
You have done it before by producing House of Reps members and you can
do it again by producing a senator.”

He however said that “before PDP can win any election in this Lagos,
the party must first separate wheat from chaffs.

The former governor, who urged leaders of the party in Lagos State to
desist from exposing rancour among the party members, laid emphasis on
giving the younger ones in the party opportunity to grow and allow
them to be in key positions in the party.

According to Fayose, “it is high time to tell Bode George to go and
retire. Let him be a support stand for the younger ones in the party.

“As I am here, I am about 60 years of age, I have grown above fighting
for minister that it will get to a point and someone will say he is
sacking me. I will never be such minister not to talk of contesting
any post with younger ones in the party.

“It is time for young people in the party to tell elderly ones to take
the back seat.  I’m not against the elders,  but I want them to know
when to take the back seat. If they don’t, the young ones will force
them. All those stories of we formed this party in 1998, eight of us
sat in my sitting room to form the party is no longer important
because the young too must be allowed to grow.

“At this level, if you see any elder contesting chairman with the
younger ones, you must know that such fellow needs to be retired.

“I am Ayodele Fayose, you can quote me anywhere. I said, you must
retire Bode George if you want progress in the PDP in Lagos. You must
stand firm and fight for your right.

“As an elder, he is supposed to stay at home and be giving blessing to
his children aspiring to grow not to be contending positios with
them,” Fayose said.

Ondo PDP Raises Alarm Over Jegede/Aketi Appeal Court Judgement Papers

Published

Jegede

The Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has raised the alarm, over what it described as antics to deny it certified copies of Wednesday’s judgement, to enable it approach the Supreme court in approved time.

TheAdo-Ekiti sitting in Akure, delivered judgement on the Appeal filed by PDP and Eyitayo Jegede, SAN against Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN on Wednesday, 16th June, 2021. The five-man panel of Honourable Justices read their judgements one after the other.

In a statement issued in the Ondo State capital on Thursday and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Ikantu Peretei
State Publicity Secretary,
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ondo State Chapter said it is surprised that, its application to the Office of the Registrars, Court of Appeal to get Certified True Copies of the Judgement has been met with some kind of bulk passing between officials of the Court in Ado-Ekiti and Akure.

In view of the fact that, the Supreme Court has only sixty days from the date of the judgment of the Court of Appeal, to dispose of this matter, the party warned that any attempt to play games or to apply delay tactics will amount to nothing but sabotage and a calculated attempt to subvert the course of justice.

”Our party hopes that the Registrars of the court will discharge his duties timeously as required by law” the statement concluded.

Aliyu Babangida Is A Sinking Ship And Should Not Drag Governor Wike Into His Predicaments.

Published

Babangida

We the People’s Democratic Party North Central Support Group Alliance Forum wishes to condemn the recent comment made by the battered former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu over our highly revered governor of River State, Governor Nyesom Wike.

Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have dignified him with a response, following the response of the party in the state, dissociating itself from such careless and reckless statement. But to make our position clear, setting the record straight and making our voices heard on the matter, we make this salient and sincere response for the records.

It is no longer news that the frustrated former governor, who is looking for who to transfer his frustration and aggression to in other to gain cheap fame, worked against our party, during the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 and never denied the same.

For the unpopular former governor to have referred to Governor Wike as a dictator, it shows how lowly he reasons; this may have caused his level of inferiority complex since he can not match up with the capacity and track records of His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike, governor of River State.

Recalled that the battered former governor Babangida Aliyu’s selfish ambition to bury a party he killed in the state has stalled the democratic congress in his state simply because he insisted that he will unilaterally handpick party excos against the popular wishes of party members in the state.

We do not have any doubt, however, that his ordained and handpicked excos will help him bury the party in the state come 2023 as we are very sure that in his characteristic manner, he will play his usual anti-party game.

Former governor Babangida Aliyu, who has been accused of diverting ecological funds of the Federal Government, released to Niger State in 2014, to the tune of about N1.940 billion should be more bothered about facing his criminal charges of eight-count money laundering charges.

We will advise that the jobless and out of favour former governor should stop holding onto straws by looking for cheap popularity and sympathy by attacking Governor Nyesom Wike. Instead, he should come out boldly to request help from Nyesome Wike the people’s governor.

As it is now, our dear party needs more unity and peace rather than utterances that can divide the party if truly we are serious about salvaging our dear nation from the present clueless government come 2023.

We are calling and encouraging the leadership of our great party to disregard unserious entities, spurious and disaffection statements and entreaties, their pranks of supporting the NWC, while they are intentionally putting the party apart will never see the light of the day. Aliyu Babangida played this sinister script in 2015, he is at it again against the run-up of 2023.

Joseph Martins.

Exclusive: How Lagos Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat Imposed His 2015 Coordinator, PA’s Elder Sister On Eredo, Epe Local Governments

Published

on

A new twist has been added to the ongoing controversy trailing the outcome of All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government primary election held last Saturday.

The deputy governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat who has been accused of planning his 2023 political ambition of becoming the governor of Lagos state working in cahoot with some politicians to impose some chairmen that will be loyal and do his bidding.

The allegation against the three chairmen in Epe, Eredo and Ikosi-Ejirin was that they worked against his political aspiration in 2015, while he contested the Governorship primary, against former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

The modus operandi of Hamzat and his henchmen was to scuttle the process once it’s clear that they won’t win. And this they were able to do successfully in a number of local governments and Local Council Development Areas across the state last Saturday.

According to the results signed by the returning officer, Miss Omowumi Ogbara who covered Epe and sighted by Newsnow, only two wards conducted the primary before It was disrupted. The results shows that the incumbent chairman of Epe local government, Mr. Adesanya Adedoyin, who is also an aspirant won in the two wards by wide margin, scoring 803 votes to defeat his closest rival, Animasaun, who polled 304 votes.

In Eredo and Ikosi-Ejirin, primary election did not hold. It was disrupted by Hon. Dahunsi Ogunkelu, aka ‘Sketel”, representing Epe Constituency 2 at the Lagos House of Assembly. Ogunkelu was on rampage while the primary election lasted and was overheard telling Hamzat after the deed has been done that , “ mission accomplished sir. A ti daru, meaning, we have scuttled everything.”

Now, instead of conducting another primary, Hamzat has gone ahead to Assure his candidates that it was a done deal. In Eredo, his Coordinator for Governorship project in 2015, Ismail Akinloye has received the LASEIC nomination form, without contesting a primary election.

In Epe, his personal assistant’s elder sister, one Suzan Olayemi Animashahun has been imposed as the party’s candidate.

In Ikosi-Ejirin, Wale Anamo from Ijebu-Ode is Hamzat’s Candidate. Wale, who has now added ‘Raji’ to his name to conform with Epe’s typical name, is a total stranger in the community, where he is now being imposed as the party’s Chairmanship candidate, by Hamzat.

Despite the fact that the local government primary election was disrupted across the three local governments in Epe, Hamzat has been able to use his contact to give the LASIEC nomination forms to some of the aspirants loyal to him. Sources informed Newsnow that there was wild jubilation in the camp of Hamzat yesterday, celebrating that everything has been ‘ signed, sealed and delivered’ with Asiwaju’s imprimatur.

The three chairmen are however undaunted. They have insisted that they would retrieve their mandate from the usurpers. In a Facebook post on behalf of his colleagues, Spokesman of the group, Niyi Saliu , who’s also the incumbent chairman of Eredo and an aspirant said; “ This daylight robbery will not stand. I appeal to all our supporters to remain calm.

We will do everything lawful to reclaim our mandates. We are persuaded that all is not lost , especially given the assurance by our leader and national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who hinted recently during the south west meeting with governors that he’s not imposing anybody.

We are excited that he has through that pronouncement deflated the ego of those dropping his name to perpetuate illegality in our party. Our leaders have also assured us that everything will be resolved amicably.”. He said.

Saliu maintained that Epe, Eredo and Ikosi-Ejirin performed creditably well during the last Lagos East Senatorial election won by Senator Tokunbo Abiru to lift APC to overwhelming success.

For now, it’s not clear how the APC wants to wriggle out of the logjam it created through the botched local government primary election.

Sources within the party hinted that Tinubu who was not too happy with the way the party officials and electoral officers bungled the process will convene the meeting of the Governors Advisory Council, GAC, tomorrow (Thursday) to resolve the imbroglio.
