MEMORABLE MOMENTS OF TABLE TENNIS IN NIGERIA IN 2018 .  (Part Two)

THE THREE ONE WIN AND THE THREE ONE DEFEAT.

It is ironically how same score line could have different meaning to a nation.

In far away Port Louis , Mauritius in September , the Men’s team defeated their Egyptian counter three one to represent Africa at the 2019 Team World Cup to be stage in Tokyo, Japan.

Whereas the female team lost three one to the Egypt’s female team , who will be representing Africa at the female team event in Tokyo next year .

Different strokes for same folks .

AZEEZ SOLANKE AND THE THREE WISE MEN FROM ASIA .

From Lagos to Abuja , Azeez Solanke was accompanied by two cameramen and a lead reporter , all from Japanese , every game played and every move he makes are been recorded , No doubt his profile as a tennis player has risen tremendously.

THE OLDEST ACTIVE TENNIS PLAYER IN NIGERIA .

Apart from the defeat of Funke Oshonaike by Nimta Aregbesola , The three wise men “guiding” Azeez Solanke , another memorable moment this year was the 56 years old Maya , who arguable is the oldest active table tennis player in Nigeria.

What was more remarkable is the win of the duo of Maya and Funmilola Ajala representing Oyo state at the National Sport defeating Segun Toriola and Funke Oshonaike in the mixed doubles .

Not too old to win .

THE MISCONCEPTION OF THE EXCLUSION OF FEMALE TABLE TENNIS PLAYERS FROM GOLD COAST 2018 .

One topic that rock the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation in 2018 was the misconception about the omission of female table tennis players from the commonwealth games in Gold coast.

The NTTF was vindicated when the table tennis contingent won nine medals , which includes Faith Bazuaye ‘s silver medal .

HONOURABLE AYO OMIDIRAN SUDDEN LOVE FOR TABLE TENNIS.

Honourable Ayo Omidiran is synonymous with Football but surprise with her sudden interest for table tennis

How her love for table tennis started …

On the 15th of March , on the floor of the National Assembly , Hon Ayo Omidiran consciously misinformed the members and the general public that the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation and the Sport Ministry deliberately marginalised the Nigeria female table tennis’ players from Gold Coast 2018 .

A statement that almost cause gender war within the sport fraternity.

She also said she will carry placards if the Table Tennis Federation does not rescind their decision .

Mrs Ayo Omidiran did not carry any placards and the NTTF did not rescind their decision to represent medal hopeful at the Commonwealth games in Gold Coast.
