Popular instrumentalist and singer, GT De-Guitarman, is currently stranded in Kano after he fell victim of fraudsters who duped him in the ancient Northern city.
According to the musician, it was business turned sour months back, between him and a business man paid to render a service.
Narrating the saga to Thepage, Guitarman explained that :On the 28th of June, 2018, i arrived Kano in company of a colleague, Mr
Demola in search of Howo Trucks for my haulage business in Ogun
An agent ,Alh Tijjani introduced us to Eng. Abubakar that he has trucks and he took us around to different places with Trucks
parked. Each Truck was to go for 60,000 while the agent Alhaji Tijanni
was to get 5,000 on each Truck.
The next day on the 29th of June, I paid Eng. Abubakar Mohammed of
Bismilllahi Construction Works LTD the sum of N1,908,000 being payment
for 6days upfront for 3 Trucks and 600 Liters Diesel @N230 per liter
each. He was generous enough to offer us to pay for 3 extra truck’s
diesel to lagos and the rental will be paid for on site by someone
else. He pleaded with us to give him time to put the trucks in order
as he doesnt want us to complain when they get to our site so we ended up
spending another night in Kano. He promised that we will leave before
12 next day 30th of June.
On the 30th of June he said we will leave at 12 noon.we only saw one
truck (a turn table), i refused not to leave Kano until all trucks i
paid for are complete..he refused to pick up my calls saying the
trucks left since 12 noon and are currently in abuja..since i had a
Truck with me i decided to be calm, i left Kano around 10pm that night
and slept on the road in Kaduna with the one Truck given.
On the 1st of july, i woke up as early as 4:30 and before 7am i was
already in abuja..to my surprise, there was no truck..we were told
they are already in Ibadan..i was stuck between going back to Kano or
moving forward but since i had a truck with me, i decided to press on.
On the 2nd of July, i got to Ibadan and waited for Trucks but didnt
see any, the number we were given weren’t going through and at times
when it did they wont pick. Then Abubakar said the trruck drivers are
the main problem that they must have used the Trucks to do runs that
we should be patient.
On the 3rd of July, we eventually decided to seize the truck then he
pleaded that he has gotten other trucks that we should please just
engage the truck which i made him send a text to that effect. We got
the Truck granite job as the jobs we originally planned the truck
couldnt do..the truck worked for one day and it developed fault so we
decided to park it and we put the truck drivers in an hotel.
Days went by and no trucks..
On the 7th of July, at about 8pm he eventually sent down 2 turn tables
again which wasn’t our agreement..but we decided to at least manage
8th of July was the first day of work one of the trucks had an
accident while offloading on the 9th of june and the other one refused
to do the job we had for him. we eventually told the truck to do
granite which wasn’t profitable but at least to engage them.
then we decided to wait till Eng. Abubakar comes (havent seen him
since he recieved payment on the 29th of June). He arrived on the 12th
of July and on the 13th of July he signed an undertaken that we should
allow the Trucks go back to Kano that he will refund the 3 extra
trucks that i dieseled on 18th and send 3 Howo Trucks on the 22nd of
July unfailingly and failure to do so, he will refund the total sum of
1,908,000 which he collected from me. With this condition, I allowed
him go, he hasn’t picked my calls or responded to my messages since then.
