The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has said that
“kidnappings and herdsmen menace” currently bedeviling the Southwest
region and the country in general will not end until leaders,
especially some governors stop seeing themselves as “Cabal Yes Men”.
The former governor said he had warned of this doom long ago, adding
that Nigeria and its people seemed conquered by the menace.
Fayose in a tweet on Wednesday, via his verified Twitter handle said
that unless the leaders and governors in the country, rise above being
seen as “Cabal Yes Men”, at the expense of their own people, Nigerians
will continue to be defenseless and conquered.
“I warned against kidnappings and herdsmen menace now bedeviling the
S/West and Nigeria long ago.
“We have now become conquered people and we will remain defenseless
except our leaders and Governors desist from wanting to be seen as
“Cabal Yes Men” at the expense of the well-being of the people. ”
We Will Recover Oyo’s Money From Contractors Who Failed To Deliver – Makinde
Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, said, on Friday, that his administration will recover every Kobo of Oyo State’s money in the hands of contractors who failed to deliver on projects.
The governor gave the assurance during an inspection tour of the newly renovated Jericho Nursing Home, Jericho, Ibadan.
He said that he will never allow any fund belonging to Oyo State to be frittered away, adding that he will go after contractors who failed to deliver on assigned projects.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted the governor as saying that
his administration will ensure the people of the state get the desired value for their money.
The governor stated that the previous contractor handling the project did not complete the work, a development, which, he said, was “unacceptable by this administration.”
He said: “Every kobo of Oyo State money that people have taken without delivering value to the people, they will give it back to us.”
Makinde, however, maintained that he is satisfied with the level of on-going renovation work at the hospital by the present administration.
The governor further said: “Well, for the ones that we did, yes I am satisfied. But the previous contractor, we can all see, did not finish the work. We went round to look at the transformer but it is not yet energised and it is just really unacceptable.
People may think we are not going to go after them but I can give you the assurance that we will.”
The governor explained that the purpose of the inspection was to examine the renovation work at the hospital and to see some of the challenges being faced by the staff of the hospital.
“Basically, I am here to see the renovation work that has gone on in here and also listen to them about the challenges they are having. As you probably must have known, health is one of the major pillars of this administration.
“So, we have to keep working to ensure that the health care in Oyo State is well delivered,” Makinde stated.

According to Korede Demola-Adeniyi; Head, Consumer Banking, the webinar which is scheduled for the 29th of April titled “Inflation and Your Money – Our role As Your Bank” is targeted at educating members of the public on how to manage limited resources at their disposal, stressing that it would also provide tips on savings, borrowing, investments and how Ecobank can be useful to the participants and general public amidst the rising inflation.
According to Mrs. Demola-Adeniyi, though Nigeria recorded early exit from the recession in the fourth quarter of last year, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have continued to impact negatively on the revenues of many corporate entities, businesses and income of individuals; noting that this development has been further compounded by inflation.
In her words, “Inflation rate has continued its upward trend to settle at about 18.1% in March with prices of goods rising significantly in the last six months.
This, in turn has significantly reduced the disposable income and cash available to consumers.
” Consequently, as a bank set up to contribute to economic development, we thought it important to facilitate a discussion during this period of Worker’s Day, that will provide some guidance to our customers and the general public on how they can manage their cash and resources through rising inflation.”
She disclosed that the webinar which will be hosted on the Microsoft Teams’ platform will converge important stakeholders who will discuss the realities of the economy of the country and also proffer solutions on how to stay afloat financially and better manage resources.
