Ronald Araujo has joined Barcelona from Montevideo-based Boston River, the club confirms.
The Uruguay under-20 captain has completed his move in a deal worth €5m. The 19-year-old has made 27 appearances in the Uruguayan top flight having started his career at second-tier side Rentistas. Araujo started out at Huracán de Rivera, played for Rentistas’ as a youngster and signed for Boston River in 2017.
The defender signed his contract in the offices of the club, in an act in which in addition to the director responsible for the subsidiary, Silvio Elías, were present the sports football manager, Pep Segura, the first team’s technical secretary, Eric Abidal, as well as-as the technical secretary of professional training football, Jose Mari Bakero
