Ronaldo Sets New Europe Goal Record

Published

on

Cristiano Ronaldo initially struggled in Serie A after his €100m move from Real Madrid.

The Portuguese failed to score in his first few games for Juventus, but he’s really come into his own in recent weeks.

He’s even been contributing with assists, setting up all three goals in Juve’s 3-1 win over title rivals Napoli.

The Bianconeri look well on course for yet another title and are one of the favourites to win the Champions League as well.

And Ronaldo has written his name into the history books yet again after opening the scoring against Genoa.

The 33-year-old scored from close range after great work from fellow summer signing Joao Cancelo.

In doing so, Ronaldo has become the first footballer in the history of the game to score 400 goals in Europe’s top five leagues.

Records really don’t come much more ridiculous than that.

Given his fitness and form, it’s hard to see him not breaking the 500 mark at some point in his career.

Lionel Messi currently trails Ronaldo by 11, but the Argentine does actually have a better goal scoring ratio.

Both superstars will surely break the 500 mark in their careers.

The closest player to the pair is Tottenham legend Jimmy Greaves on 366, while Bayern Munich icon Gerd Muller is one behind on 365.

But the fact Ronaldo and Messi are hitting these heights in the modern day just sums up their greatness.

Genoa’s in-form striker Krzysztof Piatek said prior to the game that the believes Ronaldo is the greatest player of all time.

He said: “Ronaldo? For me, he is the best player in the world right now. I would even say that he is the best player in the history of the game.
