Tinubu Fingered As Ondo PDP Boils Over 2020 Guber Race.

Published

on

A sharp  crack has emerged within the ranks  of  members of the Ondo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over who flies the party’s flag in the state’s 2020 gubernatorial election.

Thepage reliably gathered that the agitation by aspirants from the Southern part of the state to contest the election against Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) who was the party’s flag bearer in the last election, is causing ripples and may affect the chances of the party.

According to sources, there was an agreement within the party that Eyitayo Jegede ( Ondo Central), who narrowly lost to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu would be the party’s candidate in the next governorship election.

A new twist was introduced to the plans however, when aspirants from the Southern part of the state started indicating interest in the race and this, it was gathered,  is causing tension within the party at the moment.

As at the last count, Dr Eddy Olafeso, Hon. Kolade Akinjo a serving and reelected member of the House of Representatives and Banji Okunomo, a former Local government chairman are members of the party from the riverine area of the state who have signalled their intention to vie for the party’s ticket.

Thepage also gathered that the immediate past  Commissioner for Special Duties. culture and Tourism in the state, Femi Adekanmbi  may emerge a surprise aspirant from Ondo North, allegedly, at the prompting of the National leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

It was gathered that Tinubu is currently involved with the popular , Owo, Ondo North born former Commissioner in an undisclosed business deal, in what a source mentioned as a way of empowering the politician for the election.

Segun Abraham who was Tinubu’s choice for the Ondo state number one seat in 2016 is already preparing to contest the position again, a source quiped , though on APC platform. Our source said Adekanmbi’s choice is strategic.

“You know Femi is  a home boy, very popular, young and also from the same town with Aketi. So his choice is very strategic, taken into consideration the frosty relationship between Asiwaju and Aketi.

” Asiwaju  may feel safe sponsoring a candidate against Aketi because if Oshiomole remains the Chairman of the Apc, Aketi may not be able to get the party’s ticket.

” The permutation therefore is that if his candidate is able to secure PDP ticket and  Abraham is able to secure that of APC, either way, Asiwaju wins”

According to the source, the current form of the PDP in the state is the motivation for the interest of the ApC leader in investing in a PDP candidate, ostensibly for his own personal ambition. It is also considered that, unlike in the last election, fund may not be much of a difficulty for whoever emerges PDP candidate, as he would have the governors of 16 or more PDP controlled  states to run to.

If Thepage investigations are anything to go by, wrestling the ticket from Jegede may be an impossible task, as it was gathered that the party leadership may have settled for the SAN to pick the ticket.

It was also gathered that those who have signified to wrestle with him from the South don’t have the financial muscle to engage the Akure born lawyer. In fact, the PDP National vice chairman ( Southwest) Eddy Olafeso, considered to be the most chariamatic among the aspirants from the south  may have jettisoned the idea for financial reasons.

Crisis: Ogun PDP Factions Reunite, Vow To Reclaim Ogun

Published

PDP

The warring factions of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State led by the late Senator Buruji Kashamu and a former House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu, have resolved their differences and reunited.

After over a decade of crisis and court orders, loyalists of both Kashamu and Adebutu who are the two major factions on Wednesday, reunited and bowed to reclaim the state in the coming 2023 elections.

The factions met during a reunion meeting held at the party secretariat in Abeokuta.

The leaders of the two factions resolved to work together towards strengthening the party for the 2023 elections.

Leading the Kashamu faction, Segun Seriki, declared that the party will henceforth operate under Sikirullahi Ogundele-led executive of the PDP, thereby collapsing the other faction which paraded Samson Bamgbose as the Chairman.

He expressed regret that the crisis had robbed off PDP the chances of returning to power since 2011 when the party was defeated upon expiration of Gbenga Daniel’s tenure.

Seriki called on party members to be committed to the reunion and work towards rebuilding the party for victory in the 2023 election.

Bamgbose applauded the leaders of the party for achieving reconciliation of the warring factions of the PDP.

He asked the PDP leaders and supporters to be ready for the battle to unseat the ruling party in 2023.

He said “We are going to the battlefront. We must be ready and win.”

The party Chairman, Sikirullahi Ogundele, said the reunion marked the beginning of a new relationship that would drive the party to power in 2023.

He said, “I am happy that the PDP of 2003 is now back. We are now together in harmony, looking forward to having a united PDP in Ogun State.

“We are going to get back our mandate from the misrule of the APC, a party that has no blueprint.

“They just wake up in the morning and embark on any project that comes to their head. They give water or road where not needed.

The PDP is the best party so far and we are winning in 2023.”

A former spokesperson to former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, and Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, expressed happiness over the reunion of the factions.

Okupe, however, cautioned leaders in the party that “there will still be a fight, there cannot be equality. Disagreement is not disloyalty, if we don’t disagree, we can’t agree to move forward. There is a way to go about everything.”

Adebutu in his remarks enjoined party members to work in harmony, adding that the party has come as the alternative choice.

He said, “The people of Ogun State need a platform to rescue them, the PDP has come to rescue Ogun residents and Nigerians from the sufferings by the APC.”

Bisoye Fagade Takes Lagelu By Storm, Unfolds Plans For Oyo Development

Lagelu

Abisoye Fagade, the 47-year-old Nigerian marketing communication professional, is a man of many parts.

And if words on the streets of Ibadan are anything to go by, Fagade has his eyes fixed on two goals, his hospitality outfit, and politics. While his hospitality outfit, Alexia’s Place, situated in a serene environment in the Opebi area of Ikeja has continued to grow steam since its inception, the founder and CEO of Sodium Brand Solutions has been closing ranks in the Oyo state All Progressive Congress.

Fagade became popular in Oyo state politics when he made his entrance many years ago with the slogan, Oyo si ma dun (Oyo will be great) and now, the astute professional seems ready to return to politics.

To show he has his eyes fixed on the ball, Fagade was recently spotted in the Lagelu area of Oyo state where he began the process of reincarnating Lagelu in Oyo State politics. Fagade returned to his constituency to listen to his constituents and begin strategy towards taking Oyo state to an enviable height.

Speaking at a grand reception organised in his honour by the APC leadership of the party, Fagade said, “I must state here that I have personally taken up the gauntlet to join other well-meaning citizens in promoting the ideas of Progressive politics which we are known for in this part of the country.

The project has since commenced as we have done a lot to alleviate the suffering of the people, especially at the grassroots through the ‘Oyo Si Maa Dun’ Foundation.

I’m using this avenue to prepare our minds and encourage all of us to remain optimistic about the future of our dear state and that of our fatherland- Nigeria.

Jerry Gana Laments As He Returns To PDP After 3 Years

Published

Jerry Gana

Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, has alleged that there is no government in Nigeria.

Gana said this when he, alongside many of his supporters, returned the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday.

In March 2018, Gana, a member of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, had dumped the party for the Social Democratic Party.
But addressing the party members in Bida, Niger State, during a reception to mark his return to the party, Gana said the country is nose-diving and needs urgent rescue.

Prof. Gana said, “Today is not a day for lecture. It is not a day for campaigns. We just want to rejoice that we are back together solidly; and we are going to work together solidly, that we are going to work together effectively, that we are going to campaign powerfully.

“I tell you, we are going to go around strategically, in such a way that the All Progressives Congress (APC) so called government, whether in Niger state; is there a Government in Niger State? Because many people are not aware, or at the Centre? At federal level, we don’t even have a Government.”

Earlier, Party leaders from across the three Senatorial zones assured the party faithful that the PDP is ready to take over Niger and salvage it from the “deflated state that it is under the ruling APC”
